Stage Manager Checklist

A checklist of what to do (we recommend you do them in this order)

Before the Service

Collect the equipmet from backstage.

Put batteries in the belt packs.

Note down on the runsheet who is using which spare in ear set.

Turn on Stage Display TV’s in front.

Quickly test HOST 1 & 2 + DPA. Sound Check Phrases

Put batteries in Microphones.

Use a HOST mic to help the sound engineer drive things forward.

Meet on Stage at 6:50 am.

Get the pulpit and water table ready (with Communion elements if applicable).

Prepare the water bottles and mints for the Host and Preacer (Check the Stage Manager Box).

Check that the comms system is working.

Stay available during rehearsal and after to assist at any moment.

- After rehearsal -

Double check battery levels after rehearsal. (Replace all with ‘Service Batteries’)

Mop the stage.

Meet side of stage for the Host meeting at 7:50 (This is non-negotiable).

Meet backstage at 8:00 (This is non-negotiable).

Put out water and mints just before the service starts (to avoid people taking liberties) Do this after the countdown started.

Check battery levels before the band goes on stage.

Keep a water bottle in the Stage Manager Box incase of emergency.

During the Service

Keep an eye on the band - they will be looking to you if there is trouble.

Feel the temperature and let the Production Director know if you feel a change is necessary.

Have the Host mic ready for the Host when needed (see times for ‘Call to Worship’ After Worship & Close of Service).

Have Host Mic ready for the preacher when preaching.

Take up the water table during the last worship song.

Take up the Pulpit during the "intro Preacher" moment.

Bring the water table & Puplit down when the preacher is done.

Ensure the chargers are always charging (prefereably service batteries)

Mop the stage between services.

After the Service

After the first service replace all batteries with fresh Service batteries.

Note any issues or changes from the band, host or preacher and communicate them to the relevant people.

Keep an eye on comms to assist the production team with clear out.

- After both services -

Pack away the Pulpit and water table.

Pack up all in-ear belt packs.

Check and pack away all microphones.

Meet backstage for debrief.

Switch off the stage display TV’s.

Most Importantly: Have Fun, relax, don't freak out if something goes outside of the plan, and remember: you are here to meet with God first and foremost.

Sound Check Phrases

In the early 1940s, Harvard scientists developed the Harvard sentences. They might sound silly but they are the industry standard for checking how different sounds are picked up by the equipment.

List 1

The birch canoe slid on the smooth planks.
Glue the sheet to the dark blue background.
It's easy to tell the depth of a well.
These days a chicken leg is a rare dish.
Rice is often served in round bowls.
The juice of lemons makes fine punch.
The box was thrown beside the parked truck.
The hogs were fed chopped corn and garbage.
Four hours of steady work faced us.
A large size in stockings is hard to sell.

List 2

The boy was there when the sun rose.
A rod is used to catch pink salmon.
The source of the huge river is the clear spring.
Kick the ball straight and follow through.
Help the woman get back to her feet.
A pot of tea helps to pass the evening.
Smoky fires lack flame and heat.
The soft cushion broke the man's fall.
The salt breeze came across from the sea.
The girl at the booth sold fifty bonds.

List 3

The small pup gnawed a hole in the sock.
The fish twisted and turned on the bent hook.
Press the pants and sew a button on the vest.
The swan dive was far short of perfect.
The beauty of the view stunned the young boy.
Two blue fish swam in the tank.
Her purse was full of useless trash.
The colt reared and threw the tall rider.
It snowed, rained, and hailed the same morning.
Read verse out loud for pleasure.
